SURFING

WHERE TO SURF IN SANVI

Recently named Surf Reserve, San Vicente de la Barquera (Cantabria), offers an incredible corner of coastline with views of the hills and the Picos de Europa. The places are numerous in this area and generally uncrowded, all characterized by crystal clear waters and unspoiled nature.

Meron
Constant beachbreak with multiple peaks with fast walls and occasional tubing. Smaller waves in the western part where the mouth of the river forms sandbanks. Sheltered from the westerly winds, it is possible to surf here in all conditions. Near the lighthouse dock, an ascending current is generated that allows reaching the place without effort.

Gerra
Constantly exposed beachbreak that runs frequently and on almost all tides and can handle the northeasterly wind. With few people. As it is very exposed, it gives bigger waves than Meron.

Oyambre
Very long beach with several peaks. Work with all tides. Some shelter from the west and southwest winds in the western part of the beach. Rarely crowded. Waves almost always present but a little smaller than the more exposed beaches.
